August 10, 2024
Kid-Friendly Restaurants

Finding restaurants that welcome little ones can be challenging in NYC, but these spots make dining with toddlers actually enjoyable! Here are my go-to kid-friendly restaurants where I never feel stressed about bringing my little one along.

Brooklyn Favorites

Five Leaves

This Greenpoint spot has a relaxed atmosphere and delicious food for both adults and kids. The ricotta hotcakes are a must-try for brunch! They're super accommodating to families and have high chairs available.

Buttermilk Channel

Located in Carroll Gardens, this cozy restaurant has a dedicated kids' menu and a welcoming vibe. The fried chicken is incredible, and they always treat our toddler so well.

Colonia Verde

Fort Greene gem with a beautiful garden in the back! It's spacious, and the outdoor seating is perfect for letting toddlers have a bit more freedom. The Latin American food is delicious.

Manhattan Must-Visits

Bubby's

A Tribeca institution that's super family-friendly. They have a great kids' menu, high chairs, and the staff is always sweet with children. Their pie selection is amazing too!

Alice's Tea Cup

Multiple locations across Manhattan, this whimsical tea room is perfect for a special outing. Kids love the fairy-tale atmosphere, and the afternoon tea is adorable. Great for birthdays!

Sarabeth's

Several locations with reliable, delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere for families. Their brunch is phenomenal, and they have crayons and activity sheets for kids.

Shake Shack

When in doubt, Shake Shack! Multiple locations, outdoor seating options, and kids love it. Sometimes simple is best, especially with toddlers.

Pro Tips for Dining with Toddlers

  • Go early! 5-6pm is prime time before the dinner rush.
  • Look for restaurants with outdoor seating when weather permits - more space = less stress.
  • Always bring snacks as backup while waiting for food.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for adjustments to menu items.
  • Weekday lunches are often quieter than weekend brunches.
